Another original. I started writing this in Scotland and finished it 4 years later in central Victoria! When I was 22 I met the love of my life, had a wonderful year with him then we went our separate ways. I’d thought of him so often over the years. One day, some 26 years later, and just before I travelled to Scotland, I met him again. It was the same feeling, same intensity, same connection despite a lifetime each on different roads. Spirals indeed. As we were finding our friendship again I suffered quite some criticism as to whether or not it was a good idea. I wondered who it was or wasn’t a good idea for…People who speculate this way are often not really concerned with anyone other than themselves I find. But it’s a complex thing isn’t it. Be wise and wary, jump right in, damn the torpedoes? Everyone in love thinks they are the only ones EVER to feel this way. In many ways they are right. But it can cloud your judgement somewhat to be sure. But yes, always yes, damn the torpedoes!
lyrics
Right there before my eyes
Talk about your big surprise…
This love
Nobody knows how to love
Only the 2 of us know what it means
Everyone thinks they know
Everyone’s telling me how it should go
but they’re wrong
Nobody knows how to love
Only the two of us know how it feels
You and I, such a fine story
A love that has come through the years
So much time, such a long journey
But god in his grace brought us here
Oh my love
Now that I’ve found you
I’ll never leave you alone
Hold my hand, and darling don’t worry
It’s hard to believe but we’ve found our way home
Everyone says we’re wrong
But what do you do when a love comes along
Like this love
Only the two of us know how it feels
Only the two of us know
And we know
