Botany Bay
05:09
|
|||
Farewell to my home land forever
Farewell to my sweetheart as well
farewell to my friend and my family
I need you like no words can tell
Too ra ly too ra ly allity
Too ra ly too ra ly ay
Too ra ly too ra ly allity
I’m bound for Botany Bay
For seven long years I’m transported
Seven long years and a day
I know that I’ll never return love
I know that its there I will stay
CHORUS
If I had the wings of a turtle dove
I'd soar on my pinions and fly
straight to the arms of my only love
And on his sweet breast I would lie

Chorus:
Siúil, siúil, siúil a ruin
Siúil go sochair agus siúil go ciuin
Siúil go doras agus ealaigh liom
Is go dte tu mo mhuirnin slan
I'll sell my rod, I'll sell my reel
I'll sell my bonny spinning wheel
To by my lover a sword of steel
Is go dte tu mo mhuirnin slan
I'll dye my petticoat, I'll dye it red
And 'round the world I'll beg my bread,
Until my parents shall wish me dead
Is go dte tu mo mhuirnin

the kings own fortune to advance.
If he e'er comes back, oh 'tis but a chance
Is go dte tu mo mhuirnin slan

Too Ry Ah

Well who are you my pretty fair maid, who are you me honey?
Well who are you my pretty fair maid, who are you me honey?
She answered me right courtesy, “ I am me mammy’s darling”
With me Too Ry Ah, faddle diddle dah
Deary faddle diddle dar-i-oh
Will you come to me mammy’s house when th moon is shinning clearly ?
Will you come to me mammy’s house when th moon is shinning clearly ?
I’ll open the door and ill let you in, the devil o’ one will hear us
With me Too Ry Ah, faddle diddle dah
Deary faddle diddle dar-i-oh
Well she led my horse and she took my hand and she led me to the stables
Well she led my horse and she held my hand and she led me to the stables
There’s food for your horse and there’s wine for you so drink if you are able
With me Too Ry Ah, faddle diddle dah
Deary faddle diddle dar-i-oh
Well there we lay the whole of the night and the moon was shinning clearly
Well there we played and sported the night
And the moon was shinning clearly
And then I rose and I found me clothes, and said farewell my dearie
With me Too Ry Ah, faddle diddle dah
Deary faddle diddle dar-i-oh
Well she took my arm and she said to me “when will you be returning?
When you come back will you marry me, when will you be returning?”
When broken shells make Christmas bells…
A lesson to be learning
With me Too Ry Ah, faddle diddle dah
Deary faddle diddle dar-i-oh

So Much Water
05:57
|
|||
I went to see her … it was a cold November day
I spent the whole day driving…but I did not plan to stay
I went to see her just to look upon her face
I brought her roses…from a garden 900 miles away
I went to ask her why I’ve been so long alone
And spent my life in exile… and so far from home
I went to tell her of all the anguish that I’ve known
From being too far from family
And memories that should have been my own
So much water, so much time….. Out of sight is clearly out of mind…..
So how have you been all these years?
I’ve been fine, thank you
But some days I’m not so sure
Every Christmas day, every holiday… it hurts a little more
You never told me… at least never face to face
Why you denied me and disappeared, love, without a trace
So much water, so much time….. Out of sight is clearly out of mind…..
I used to believe that things could change one day
I’ve longed to see you all this time
I used to believe that we would find some way
But I see some things now in a different light
I went to see her…. I told her all I had to say
I left a soft kiss on her cheek… and then I drove away
So sad to see her … all things written on her face
But I left her roses… and then allowed my heart to finally break
So much water, so much time…..Out of sight is clearly out of mind….

Barbra Allen
04:53
|
|||
T'was in the merry month of May, when all the green buds were swelling
A young man on his deathbed lay, for the love of Barbara Allen
He sent his servant to the town, to where she was dwelling
”My Master’s sick and he calls for you
If your name is Barbara Allen"
Then slowly, slowly she got up, and slowly she went to him
And all she said when she got there
"Young man, I think you're dying"
He turned his face unto the wall, for death was surely in him
oh fare thee well to my sweet friends all
and farewell to you Barbara Allen"
as she walked on the road to home She saw his hearse a-comin'
"Oh lay him down on the cold cold ground That I may gaze upon him"
oh mother mother make my bed, Make it soft and narrow
For My true love has died today, I’ll die for him tomorrow
They buried her in the old churchyard
and him they laid beside her
From her grave there grew a red red rose
From his grew a green briar
They grew up high on the old church tower,
till they could grow no higher
And there they twined in a true love’s knot
and The rose ran round the briar
Some people say that her heart was cold
Or say that he did slight her
But through the flowers the truth is told
In the red red rose and the briar

As I Roved Out
05:14
|
|||
As I rode out one bright may morning
To view the meadows and flowers gay
Who did I spy but my own true lover
As she sat by yon willow tree
Well I took off my hat and I did salute her
I saluted her most courageously
But when she turned round well the tears fell from her
Saying false young man
You deluded me
The diamond ring
I ought I gave to you
A diamond ring to wear on your right hand
But the vows you made you went and broke them
To marry the lassie
Who had the land
Well if I married the lassie who had the land my love
It is this ill rue until the day I die
When misfortune comes no man can charm it
I was blindfolded
Oh ill ne’er deny
And now when I go to bed at night and slumber
Oh thoughts of my true love run through my mind
And when I turn round to embrace my darling
Instead of gold
It is brass I find

This Love
03:00
|
|||
Right there before my eyes
Talk about your big surprise…
This love
Nobody knows how to love
Only the 2 of us know what it means
Everyone thinks they know
Everyone’s telling me how it should go
but they’re wrong
Nobody knows how to love
Only the two of us know how it feels
You and I, such a fine story
A love that has come through the years
So much time, such a long journey
But god in his grace brought us here
Oh my love
Now that I’ve found you
I’ll never leave you alone
Hold my hand, and darling don’t worry
It’s hard to believe but we’ve found our way home
Everyone says we’re wrong
But what do you do when a love comes along
Like this love
Only the two of us know how it feels
Only the two of us know
And we know

Dream Angus

|
|||
Can ye no hush your weepin'
All the wee lambs are sleepin'
Birdies are nestlin' nestlin' together
Dream Angus is hirplin' oer the heather
Dreams to sell, fine dreams to sell
Angus is here wi' dreams to sell
Hush ye my darling and sleep without fear
Dream Angus has brought you a dream my dear
List' to the curlew cryin'
Faintly the echos dyin'
Even the birdies and the beasties are sleepin'
But my bonny bairn lies weepin' weepin'
Dreams to sell, fine dreams to sell
Angus is here wi' dreams to sell
Hush ye my darling and sleep without fear
Dream Angus has brought you a dream my dear

A Stór Mo Chroí
04:03
|
|||
A Stór Mo Chroí,when you're far away
Far from the land you'll be leaving,
It's many a time by night and by day
That your heart will be sorely grieving.
For the stranger's land may be bright and fair,
And rich in its treasures golden.
But you'll pine, I know, for the long, long ago
And the love that is never olden.
A Stór Mo Chroí, in the stranger's land
There is plenty of wealth and wailing.
Whilst gems adorn the great and the grand
There are faces with hunger pailing.
Though the road is toilsome, and hard to tread
And the lights of their cities will blind you.
Won't you turn a stór to Erin's shore
And the ones that you're leaving behind you.
A Stór Mo Chroí, when the evening's mist
Over mountain and sea is falling,
won't you turn away from the throng
And maybe you'll hear me calling.
For the sound of a voice that is surely missed
For somebody's quick returning.
A ruin, a ruin, oh won't you come back soon
To the ones who will always love you.
